So last night we went to see War of the Worlds -- and it was great! Except for the ending...which I can just pretend ended in a different spot, but I won't mention what spot it was for fear of ruining it for you. I think my favorite quote of the night was from Tim saying "There comes a time everyone's life that something must be done about Tim Robbins."

Yesterday I was chastized by a ten year old for not wearing head protection while riding bike, and at the same time his father threw in that my shoes (sandals) were inappropriate bike gear as well.
Dang. But after reading about an acquaintance wiping out on his bike -- maybe I *should* start to wear the stupid thing. I mean I have it. It's hanging up in the stairs to the basement.
If only it didn't feel so dumb. If I had grown up doing it, it might be a different story.
God, I am like those old people that don't wear seatbelts.

i'd like to say that i would have told the nosy little shit and his busy-body old man to go fuck themselves. but i know i wouldn't have done that in portage, because when i was working for the paper, i never knew who i might have to go interview next, you know? and i don't do it here because, well, who knows who might be hiring me to work on their house or something, right?
i did it all the time in college and even when i was growing up, though. there's probably some kind of lesson buried in there...
but, you know, here in the insular safety of the internet, you can feel free to let fly with a nice hearty "Fuck YOU, asshole."
c'mon, you know you want to. hell, at least flip 'em the bird! over the internet, granted. but it'll be cathartic all the same.

I don't think I can delete it. Huh. IT doesn't matter. It makes me look more popular anyway.
But the kid is nice -- and his dad is a little too well meaning. I mean they have a point and my own safety is something I have been considering more and more lately. Especially since I ride with traffic...and head are remarkably like watermelons. DH and I decided to get good helmets...not the cheap shitty one we hate. What is the point of cheap if you never wear it?
And the picture is a little dark...but can't I like it that way? :P
tatiana's brain was saved by her helmet. she took a header over the handlebars onto some rocks. the helmet was banged up, her arm was broken, but her brain was fine.
get one of those helmets with the cool visors. :)

Enough about the helmets! War of the worlds kicked ass!! I rewatched the old movie as well and even though the special effects were cheezy, it still rocked. The ending wasn't as good as the old one though. But yeah... if zoeys down I wanna watch it again.
I need to see the old one. Tim said it was good and ended with the diseased alien (the part in the new movie we think it should have ended as well).
I should netflix it.
